Motivation: Was war der Ausgangspunkt bzw. die Überlegungen für das Veränderungsvorhaben?

Als Anna und Franz Pevny 1992 den Hof übernahmen, musste eine Entscheidung getroffen werden: beide berufstätig, der Stall baufällig und die Holztram verfault, weil der Vierkanter nach einem Brand im Jahr 1945 drei Monate kein Dach hatte. Was also tun? Der elterliche Hof sollte unbedingt erhalten werden, finanziell war das aber nur über eine neue wirtschaftliche Nutzung möglich.

Anna Pevny arbeitete als Handarbeits- und Kochlehrerin. Nach der Geburt ihrer Kinder wollte sie aber nicht mehr zurück, sondern sich ganz ihrer Familie widmen. Daher begann sie im Kleinen mit der Direktvermarktung von Schnaps und selbstgemachtem Brot.

Durch den Besuch von Veranstaltungen auf der Landwirtschaftskammer kam das Betriebsehepaar auf die Idee, das reichhaltige Platzangebot im Vierkanter für Mietwohnungen zu nutzen.

Intention: Was wollten Sie damit erreichen und wie funktionierte die genaue Umsetzung? Was wurde gemacht? Was waren die Holpersteine? Was gibt es zu beachten, wenn man etwas Ähnliches machen möchte?

Drei Wohnungen mit separatem Eingang und eigenen Parkplätzen wurden errichtet – durch die strikte Abtrennung zum Wohn- und Arbeitsbereich der Familie Pevny gestaltet sich das Zusammenleben bis heute unproblematisch.
Das handgemachte Brot aus dem kleinen Elektroherd fand bald so großen Anklang, dass eine Modernisierung der Geräte und ein Ausbau des Arbeitsbereiches anstanden. 1996 wurde ein eigener Verkaufsraum am Hof errichtet und die Produktpalette der Direktvermarktung erweitert.

Aufgrund der großen Nachfrage und der eigenen Ideologie wurde 1999 auf biologische Wirtschaftsweise umgestellt. 2006 wurde im zweiten Bauabschnitt die Backstube vergrößert, der Verkaufsraum erweitert sowie ein Seminarraum angebaut, in dem Anna Pevny ihr Wissen über Brotbacken weitergibt.

Auch der Innenhof wurde liebevoll mit Wasserelementen und einer Holzbrücke neu gestaltet, der neu aufgemauerte Holzstadl dient heute als Lager für Getreide und Maschinen.

2013 wurde der nächste Bauabschnitt in Angriff genommen: Küche und Backstube wurden vergrößert und mit großen Glasfenstern zu Schauräumen adaptiert. Der Seminarraum wurde zu einer Gaststube mit 50 Sitzplätzen, Schankanlage und gemütlicher Bar umgebaut. Für diesen neuen Betriebszweig hat Anna auch die Gastgewerbekonzession erworben.

Das neue Nutzungskonzept am Vierkanthof hat sich bestätigt. Durch den Aufbau einer erfolgreichen Direktvermarktung sowie der Vermietung eines Hofteils kann das Erbe der Eltern wirtschaftlich genutzt und erhalten werden.
Die Familie Pevny ist zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis. Ihren Kindern würden sie aber raten, bei Umbauvorhaben länger zu überlegen und genauer zu planen, als sie das damals gemacht haben, hängt doch die Lebensqualität am Vierkanter wesentlich davon ab.
